COLOR COLLABOLATOR
BLUE - PEOPLEAP
01.I have a question about the color you were in charge of.
Why did you choose this color?
Please tell us in your own words your thoughts on this color and any personal connections you have with it.
Since the beginning of the PEOPLEAP project, "blue/indigo" has been our key color. This is deeply connected to the philosophy at the core of our activities.
We have aimed to deliver unique works by Japanese creators in video, music, and graphics to the world in an unprecedented way, by using the traditional Hasami ware product as a "medium." In particular, we have a strong desire to challenge ourselves to find new ways to distribute Japanese works overseas.
Within this context, we chose "blue/indigo" as a color that symbolizes Japanese-ness and spirituality. As it is sometimes called "Japan Blue" around the world, a diverse culture of "blue" has been alive in Japan since ancient times. The fact that many of the vessels created by PEOPLEAP are colored in this single "blue/indigo" is a symbol of this.
When producing this T-shirt, we unhesitatingly chose "blue" as the color symbolizing this project.
Furthermore, in recent years, we have also released products themed on the ancient Chinese proverb, "Blue comes from indigo, but is bluer than indigo." This phrase embodies the attitude of continuous creative evolution, like a disciple who grows to surpass their master. We, too, want to continue creating new expressions and values through the color "blue" and pass them on.
For PEOPLEAP, "blue/indigo" is our philosophy and a symbol of our challenge.
02.I have a question about the items you designed.
Please tell us why you chose this design, what your particular points of focus were, and how you would like people to wear it.
"PEOPLEAP" T shirts
"What's Going On," one of PEOPLEAP's projects, is a plan to enjoy unique grooves with regular friends in various places.
We created a relaxed T-shirt that captures such daily life.
"THE SWEETEST TABOO" long sleeve T shirts
The "THE SWEETEST TABOO" series, released in 2020, was created under the theme of "forbidden sweetness" for things that are difficult to put into words, difficult to convey in words, or super-personal bittersweet memories, in a society where text, including SNS, is rampant and SNS fatigue is widespread.
We reconstructed the logo graphic created at that time and subsequent graphics to create a long-sleeve T-shirt inspired by the PEOPLEAP uniform.
